What is the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (CGEB)?

The GST/HST credit's new name since July 2026: a tax-free quarterly payment for lower- and middle-income people.

Same rules as before, with payments 25% higher for five years. Paid around the 5th of July, October, January and April.

Also called: CGEB, groceries benefit.
